The 12th annual Tri-County High School Art Exhibition took place last month! Many Springfield students had artwork that was featured in the show. A few artists shared their process with The Chronicle:
Erica Case, Senior

What’s your favorite medium and why?
My favorite medium is graphite because it’s easy to work with, and my favorite type[s] of things to draw are still life[s], and graphite is easy to work with for that.
Where do you look for inspiration?
I look for inspiration from my interests and within myself.
What message or emotion do you hope to convey through your art?
I hope to convey a bit of hope for people and also to hopefully spark curiosity within my viewers.
Sam Sonta, Sophomore

What’s your favorite art medium and why?
I really like watercolor because you can just be really expressive and kind of be really fun with it and lose.
Where do you look for inspiration?
I look [to] the people that I care about and get a lot from that.
What message or emotion do you hope to convey through your art?
I’d say happiness and just kind of fun.
Siena DePaul, Senior

What’s your favorite medium and why?
I think fibers like fabric [and] yarn. I find it’s really easier for me to work with. I like how it feels. I think it’s easier for me to express myself through those.
Where do you look for inspiration?
Mostly media I consume like music, musicals, [and] books. Just things in my life.
What message or emotion do you hope to convey through your art?
I hope to convey like little pieces of myself in every piece I make.
