This past summer, students and teachers embarked on a two-week trip to four European countries. The diagram above outlines their travels!
One of the most memorable places that the students visited was the Swiss Alps. Senior, Greta Pischke called it “the prettiest and most scenic” place they visited. They got to spend the day exploring and taking gorgeous pictures. Another significant part of the Alps day was when they got to go “swimming in [Lake Lucerne],” said senior Grace Toland.
Students found the most impactful historical site to be the Dachau Concentration Camp located in Dachau, Germany. Pischke called it a “surreal moment.” Toland also noted that, “it was crazy to see it in person because [she has] read so many books and stories about it.”
Overall, it was a “wonderful experience,” said junior James Mitzak. He found it enjoyable to travel to different countries because “unlike in America… if you cross a border of a country, it’s a completely different national identity.” Others loved their free time in each country, such as Toland, who would “climb up the bell tower [with her friends] so [they] could see the cities” every time her group saw a church. Additionally, senior Murphy McGranaghan found the trip incredibly interesting because students got to see places and monuments “you have to see once, like the Eiffel Tower.”
Many students enjoyed their experiences traveling around Europe and, like McGranaghan, now have places that they “would definitely go back to.”
