As the presidential election edges closer, voting will determine who will lead our country. On November 5th, the polls will open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., allowing people 18 or above to cast their vote for the next president of the United States. To get a glimpse of what some of Springfield’s students are planning on doing, we decided to interview fellow Spartans and get their opinions on voting and the importance of their voice and choice.

How do you feel about finally having the privilege to vote and being able to have a say in pressing topics?
“I feel like it’s really important to vote because even though you see the numbers are huge–you can’t even comprehend the numbers–each vote counts. If all those people who thought, “It’s one vote, my vote isn’t that important”–like if all of those people did that, it would be a really huge number.”
“Everyone’s vote is important, and it helps you–like you feel like you’re contributing to society. You can decide what happens like you play a part in what’s gonna happen in the future. Even if the candidate you want does not win, you still made an impact. At least trying is better than not trying at all. I feel like it’s really important.”
Have you been following the news and gathering information on who you want to vote for?
“I have not been following the news, but I was planning on doing research […]. I wanted to register and then do research on both candidates to see which one is more beneficial, and see their past and what they’ve been doing, and what their plans are to do.”
